An LMP pool is a lightweight, modular, prefabricated swimming or plunge pool. A concrete pool is cast on site. Both can be excellent, and the right choice usually comes down to the site rather than taste.

Where the work happens

With a concrete pool nearly everything happens at your property: excavation, steel, formwork, pouring, curing, waterproofing, tiling. With an LMP pool the shell is made in advance and the work on site is preparing the base, positioning the pool and connecting services. That shifts risk away from your garden and the weather, and it is why the disruption is so much smaller.

Speed

For fully prefabricated, plug-in applications our installation window is 1 to 7 days. When a base or groundwork has to be prepared first, plan for up to 30 days. A concrete pool is measured in weeks and months, and the programme depends on curing and trades arriving in the right order.

Weight and where it can go

A lightweight pool puts much less load on a slab, a terrace or a roof. That is the main reason modular pools are chosen for upper floors, podiums and townhouse terraces. It does not remove the need for a structural check: the water itself is heavy, and the building must be confirmed to carry it.

Shape and size

Concrete wins on freedom. If you want a freeform lagoon, a very long lap pool or an unusual footprint, it is the route to take. LMP pools are supplied in defined sizes and configurations, which suits plunge pools and compact swimming pools, where the footprint is already limited. They can be used indoors and outdoors, and installed above ground, semi in-ground or in-ground.

Cost certainty

A modular pool is largely priced before it leaves the workshop. A concrete pool can move as ground conditions, design changes and finishing choices emerge. If you are working to a fixed budget, that difference matters more than the headline price. Our starting figure for plunge pools is AED 35,000; this page explains what changes it.

Adding a clear wall

A modular pool can be paired with a clear acrylic or glass viewing panel. The panel is engineered for the water depth behind it, which is a design input rather than an afterthought. See pool clear panels for how this works.

Events, exhibitions and temporary use

Selected modular pool systems can be rented for events, exhibitions and activations. A cast concrete pool cannot do that at all, so it is worth knowing if your need is temporary.

How to decide

  • Choose LMP if the site is a terrace, roof, courtyard or tight plot, if you need a short programme, or if you want a firm price early.
  • Choose concrete if the shape is the point of the design and the plot can take a long build.
  • If you are unsure, send us the location and we will tell you honestly which suits it, even when the answer is not ours to supply.

Common questions

Is an LMP pool a real swimming pool?

Yes. Larger configurations are used as swimming pools in residential and commercial settings, and compact ones as plunge pools.

Can an LMP pool be sunk into the ground?

Yes. It can be above ground, semi in-ground or in-ground depending on the site and your design.

Does it last as long as concrete?

Both can last for many years when specified and installed correctly. The warranty period depends on the product and is stated in your quotation.

For the product itself, see our LMP modular and plunge pool page, or tell us about your site.
