Case Study 3
The Client’s architecture team wanted to create a very unique guest sitting area in this building and requested our team to offer them some of our aquatic options. A Ground fresh water aquarium was the final decision for the center of guest area of this property. We needed to create an aquarium which could hold the weight of people on it but most importantly the guest could enjoy the inside of this aquarium easily and it should have a good visibility. Our final design was an aquarium with water capacity of 11,000 litter ,and a tank with 4 meter in diameter, 3 meter in diameter of a 25mm laminated glass and a height of 90cm. The reason for the difference between the size of the tank and the diameter of the glass is when people are standing on the side of the aquarium to view the inside, they need to feel that the aquarium is endless and that wouldn’t have been possible using the same size tank. The other technique that we needed to implement was to have another layer of glass under the surface glass to absorb the wave created on the surface of tank and thus enabling the observer to get the highest level of clarity. The second glass was placed with a distance of 10cm below the main glass and was adjacent to the surface of water. The filtration system was done 40 meter away from the aquarium outside the building underground.
